Music: New and Classic Rock
Members: Chuck Maiden, John Perry, Randy Volin, Mike Montenegro
Elwood Moon is a classic rock band from Thousand Oaks, California. They perform covers of songs by artists like Tom Petty, The Beatles, The Stones, Kings of Leon, R.E.M., Travis and ZZ Top.
Founded in 2013 by independent singer-songwriter, Chuck Maiden, Elwood Moon performs and celebrates some of rock’s greatest songs, but they are different from other cover bands. Instead of filling their sets with every stale and well-worn cover song out there, Elwood Moon chooses dynamic material that is a little more off the beaten path, but still recognizable to everyone. They’re fun to dance and listen to. You might hear a rocker like, American Girl by Tom Petty, then next hear a beautiful ballad like Without You by Harry Nilsson.
Chuck was fortunate to find some of the very best local talent around to fill out the band’s ranks. Former A&M recording artist, Randy Volin, from Detroit, Michigan plays lead guitar and contributes great vocals and mesmerizing solos. John Perry, considered by Chuck and many others to be one of the best drummers around, has recorded and toured with artists like Rick Springfield and Mike Curb. Mike Montenegro, who’s worked with Chuck on various projects, lays down a solid bass and has been a fixture in the Southern California club scene for years.
Inspiration: The Beatles, Elliot Smith, R.E.M, Jayhawks, The Who, Travis, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young, etc.
